FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
Light and Low Level Laser (LLLT) Questions and Answers:

Q.  Some manufacturers claim that their laser or light device can treat through
clothing, is this true?
A.  False. Laser and light devices cannot penetrate clothing enough to
provide an effective treatment.  With the thickness and type of some
clothing there is 0% transmission to the surface of the skin, let alone the
targeted tissue.  For further information on this subject and other
misleading claims, read
"Confounders and Magicians" written by the
Swedish Medical Laser Society.

Q.  What does mW mean?
A.  Milliwatt or mW is a unit of power equal to one thousandth of a watt.
1000 milliwatts equals 1 watt. The mW rating of a light device is simply the
power output of the light or laser.

Q.  Is more output better?
A.  Yes up to a point.  Laser and/or light devices with outputs over 1 Watt
are regarded as unnecessary and excessive in scientific literature and
research.

Q.  What does nm mean?
A.  A nm or nanometer is 1 billionth of a meter.  The nm rating on a light
or laser device designates what wavelength or color a LED or laser will
produce.  The Horizon Light probe produces 660nm (red) and 880nm
(infrared).

Q.  What is a joule?
A.  A joule is a unit of energy equivalent to one watt second.
